Proper nutrition is about a competently tailored diet. When choosing it, you should rely not on trend restrictions and rules, but on your personal needs, taking into account your lifestyle. This was announced on Thursday, May 1, by the nutritionist of the Level Kitchen service, nutritionist, expert in the field of healthy nutrition Tatyana Meshcheryakova in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».

One of the most common myths is the ban on eating after 18:00. As the doctor pointed out, there is only some truth in it: the rule appeared from the recommendation to go to bed at 22:00, since melatonin is actively produced before midnight. Meshcheryakova recalled that falling asleep with an overfilled stomach is really harmful, because in this case, the body is forced to digest food instead of rest. But in reality, few people adhere to an ideal schedule, so a strict ban on eating after 18:00 is a myth. It is only important to have dinner two or three hours before bedtime, the expert explained.

The second misconception is that you can only eat sweets in the morning. According to the nutritionist, this myth distorts the real recommendations.

"There is an opinion that if you eat something harmful and high—calorie in the morning, then during the day you can adjust your diet and activity level to minimize the consequences. But real proper nutrition, on the contrary, says that in the morning it is better to give preference to a balanced breakfast, rather than a sugar-carbohydrate bomb, " said the interlocutor of the publication.

The doctor clarified that after waking up, it is important to "start" the metabolism: start with a glass of water, and then have a full breakfast. Sweets are best consumed a couple of hours after the main meal.

The third myth is that snacking is harmful. This statement is also only partially true, said Meshcheryakova. The nutritionist explained that snacking is unhealthy if it consists solely of snacks — protein bars and other "fast" options. However, starving between meals is even worse, the expert emphasized. She advised to choose fruits, vegetables and nuts for snacks.

"There is a myth that with proper nutrition it is allowed to eat only buckwheat, boiled chicken and vegetables. Forget about it once and for all — proper nutrition should be complete. This is not a diet with which you can get rid of extra pounds, but a lifestyle. This means that your diet should include your favorite dishes, even if it's a burger or sandwich," the expert concluded.

Earlier, on April 23, Daria Pronina, an endocrinologist at the Sberbank Health medical company, spoke about a safe way to lose weight by the summer. She explained that with healthy weight loss, a person should lose 0.5–1 kg per week, but if it takes more than 1 kg, it often happens due to loss of muscle mass. In addition, it is worth carefully approaching weight loss in the presence of chronic pathologies.
