- Vance announced the search for common ground in the peace proposals of Moscow and Kiev

Russia and Ukraine have presented their proposals for a peaceful settlement of the conflict, and a search is underway for "common ground." This was announced on April 30 by Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance.
"Now, I think the question now is whether we can find common ground so that these guys can end the conflict. They have to take the last steps," Vance said in an interview with Fox News.
He added that only Moscow and Kiev can achieve a peace agreement and "know about the mutual conditions" of its achievement.
On May 1, Vance said that Washington had already taken the first step towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and intended to lead Moscow and Kiev to a direct dialogue in the next 100 days.
Earlier, on April 30, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, announced Moscow's readiness for direct talks with Kiev without preconditions. He stressed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refuses US proposals for a settlement in order to conceal the crimes committed.
