A search has begun in Bolivia after a plane with five passengers on board went missing.

A light aircraft carrying five people has disappeared in the Amazon region of Bolivia. A search and rescue operation is currently underway, President Luis Arce said on May 1 on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).

"In connection with the disappearance of the Cessna 172CP aircraft, which was carrying five people, including a child, we have ordered the immediate deployment of a search and rescue operation involving the Bolivian Air Force (FAB), the Joint Emergency Response Command and Search and Rescue Services," the statement said.

The aircraft disappeared from the radar of the Beni department, which is located in the center of the Amazon.
