Witkoff announced his unwillingness to serve as Trump's national security adviser.

US President Donald Trump's special Envoy to the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, may replace Mike Waltz as national security adviser, but does not want to do so. This was reported on Thursday, May 1, by CNN journalist Alaina Trinh, citing sources.
"Steve Witkoff informed his family that he did not want this job," she wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to the correspondent, Witkoff's entourage doubted that he could be chosen as a replacement for Waltz.
On May 1, Fox News reported on the resignation of Waltz and his deputy Alex Wong. At the same time, the channel noted that the day before, the adviser attended a cabinet meeting 100 days after Trump's inauguration. According to the Politico newspaper, a possible replacement for Waltz has been discussed for several weeks, having received a special boost the other day.
After that, Axios journalist Barak Ravid said that Trump's national security adviser had not yet left his post. The White House refuses to comment on the situation with Waltz's possible departure.
