Romania deported RT correspondent Chay Bose


Russia Today (RT) correspondent Chase Bose was deported from Romania on Thursday, May 1, where he arrived to cover the presidential election.
"Now Bose is heading to Istanbul. On May 1, RT correspondent Chay Bose was detained at Bucharest airport in Romania. The journalist reported that the police took him out of the plane immediately after landing," the RT article says.
The TV channel added that after that the correspondent was interrogated. He told the police that he was a journalist and planned to cover the Romanian elections, which are scheduled for May 4.
The journalist's detention became known earlier that day. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the journalist crossed the border completely legally and was being pressured because of his professional competence.
Zakharova also pointed out the falsity of statements about Russia's alleged interference in the Romanian presidential election.
The first round of the Romanian presidential election was held on November 24, 2024. According to official sources, opposition politician Calin Georgescu was in the lead with 22.94% of the vote, but on November 28, the country's Constitutional Court demanded that the Central Election Commission recount the results. They were cancelled on December 6. Repeat elections will be held in Romania on May 4. The second round is scheduled for May 18.
