- The United States reported on communication with India and Pakistan to prevent escalation.

The United States maintains regular contacts with the authorities of India and Pakistan at various levels in order to prevent possible escalation between the countries. This was announced on May 1 by State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce during a briefing.
"We continue to be in touch with the authorities of both countries on multiple levels," Bruce said at a briefing.
According to her, Washington is actively cooperating with both sides, urging them to exercise restraint and seek a peaceful way out of potentially tense situations.
She stressed that the United States is committed to helping achieve a "responsible solution" and preventing rising tensions in the region.
Relations between New Delhi and Islamabad worsened after the terrorist attack on April 22 near the Indian city of Pahalgam in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 27 civilians. Both countries have closed the only common open land border and suspended visas. New Delhi has also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty.
On Tuesday, April 29, Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced India's intention to launch military attacks on the country within 24-36 hours. According to him, any act of aggression will be met with a decisive blow.
