Trump announced Waltz's nomination for the post of U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations

On May 1, US President Donald Trump announced that he would appoint his National security adviser Mike Waltz to the post of Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations (UN).

"I am pleased to announce that I have nominated Michael Waltz to be the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Since his time in uniform on the battlefield, in Congress, and as my national security adviser, Michael Waltz has worked hard to put our country's interests first," he wrote on the Truth Social network.
