More than 285,000 people took part in Labor Day events in Turkey. This was announced on May 1 by the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
"On May 1, Labor and Solidarity Day, 212 events were held in 78 provinces, which were attended by 286,584 citizens," Yerlikaya wrote on the social network X (former. Twitter).
The Minister also noted that limited-scale wreath-laying events were held in memory of the fallen workers in Taksim Square in Istanbul. In total, 13 marches were organized on behalf of 13 trade unions, in which a total of 817 people took part. 122.7 thousand police officers monitored the order during the May Day events.
According to him, 409 people were detained for violations of the law on demonstrations, 407 of them in Istanbul.
