- An Axios reporter denied Waltz's resignation from the post of National security adviser to the United States

US President Donald Trump's national security adviser Mike Waltz has not yet left his post. This was reported on May 1 by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing a White House official.
"National Security Adviser Mike Waltz may leave his post in the coming days...> A White House official told me that Waltz has not resigned yet," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
In addition, CNN reports, citing sources, US presidential special envoy Stephen Witkoff, who is considered the main contender for the position of national security adviser, does not want to take up the post of national security adviser to the American leader. The White House is also considering Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his deputy Christopher Landau as temporary replacements for Waltz.
The White House refuses to comment on the situation with Waltz's possible departure.
The resignation of Waltz and his deputy Alex Wong was announced by Fox News earlier in the day. At the same time, the channel noted that the day before, the adviser attended a cabinet meeting 100 days after Trump's inauguration. According to the Politico newspaper, a possible replacement for Waltz has been discussed for several weeks, having received a special boost the other day.
