The US military space division Space Delta 9 has opened access to classified intelligence information to the countries of the Five Eyes alliance, which includes the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. This was reported on May 1 by The Times newspaper with reference to the commander of the unit, Colonel Ramsey Horn.

According to him, the allies have gained access to data on Russian and Chinese operations in near-Earth space. The decision was made amid growing concern about the possible militarization of the orbit.

For the first time, the American side allowed representatives of the United Kingdom to work in the orbital division. In particular, Air Marshal Johnny Stringer, Deputy Commander of the British Joint Air Forces at NATO, visited the Schriver space base in Colorado, where he got acquainted with the intelligence program tracking the actions of Russian and Chinese satellites.

Horn added that the United States "must be prepared for a <conflict> that no one wants."

The publication notes that until April, the activities of the unit specializing in conducting US orbital combat operations, Space Delta 9, were mainly considered intended only for Americans with access to top-secret information.

The foreign ministers of the BRICS countries on Wednesday, April 30, called for the prevention of an arms race in outer space and its militarization. The meeting participants also recognized the need to ensure the use of space systems and advances in space technology for peaceful purposes.
