- The Izvestia photo exhibition dedicated to Victory Day has opened in the parks of Moscow and St. Petersburg

On May 1, the Izvestia photo exhibition "War in the Lens", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory, opened in parks, squares and historical sites of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The project demonstrates the unique works of photojournalists of the newspaper Izvestia, taken during the Great Patriotic War. On the first day of the war, 52 employees of the publication went to the front, and over 300 journalists visited the front line during the fighting.
The exhibition features such works as the famous photo of a nurse bandaging a soldier by Pavel Troshkin, photographs by Georgy Zelma from Stalingrad, and the chronicle of the life of besieged Leningrad by David Trakhtenberg. The historical footage was taken in Berlin by Anatoly Morozov and Georgy Samsonov.
"They covered not only this from the side of military operations, but also <... It's like they're looking at it all as a civilian. That's interesting. They also let it all through themselves," said Nadezhda Pospelova, one of the visitors to the exhibition.
Modern Izvestia operators continue to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, extracting the truth with a camera on the battlefield. They are still working in the hottest areas of the special operation in Ukraine.
At the same time, as Kirill Piktorinsky, an operator of Izvestia, noted, unprecedented working conditions for military journalists have developed in the current conflict.
"There have never been so many drones, such is the amount of artillery. Now all this has appeared, so we have to work quickly and dynamically: we ran in, took it off, and ran away," he said.
Earlier in the day, the patriotic action "Victory Banner" was held at the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. During it, a ceremony was held to present copies of this state relic to the participants of the May 9 parades in Russian cities.
