- The head of the Pentagon instructed to equip the army with long-range missiles by 2027

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has instructed Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll to implement a program to transform the U.S. armed forces, including equipping them with long-range missile weapons by 2027. The relevant memorandum was published on April 30.
"To accelerate the creation of capabilities to ensure victory in the war, the Secretary of the Army [Driscoll] has been instructed to deploy long-range missiles capable of hitting moving land and sea targets by 2027," the document says on the Pentagon website.
In addition, the Ministry of the Army is ordered to provide each division with unmanned systems by 2026 and increase the capabilities of troops to combat drones. It is also planned to introduce artificial intelligence into operations command and expand the use of 3D printers and other advanced manufacturing methods in the units.
Earlier, on March 26, the Pentagon signed a contract with General Dynamics Electric Boat for the supply of materials for Virginia Block VI class nuclear submarines worth $1 billion. The work under the agreement is scheduled to be completed by 2035.
