British resident Ethel Katerem, who is 115 years old, has become the oldest person in the world, after the previous record holder died. This was reported on May 1 by The Telegraph newspaper.
According to the publication, Kate was born on August 21, 1909. She is also the oldest resident of Great Britain in history and the last person to survive the reign of King Edward VII.
The previous record holder, Brazilian nun Ina Canabarro Lucas, died at the age of 116 the day before.
The Ynet portal reported on April 25 that the oldest resident of the country, Nehama Grossman, a Holocaust survivor, died in Israel at the age of 110. According to media reports, a long-time resident of the southern city of Arad died on Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel.
