American director Martin Scorsese is preparing a documentary about Pope Francis, which will include the last interview of the pontiff, filmed exclusively for the project. This was reported by Variety magazine on April 30.

It is specified that the painting will be based on the work of the late pontiff in the global educational movement Scholas Occurrentes.

The film will tell about the participants of the project from countries such as Indonesia, Gambia and Italy. As part of the program, they make short films.

"Now more than ever, we need to talk to each other and listen to each other. One of the best ways to achieve this is to share our stories," said Scorsese.

The central theme of the film will be the conviction of Pope Francis in the sacred nature of creativity.

According to the magazine, the initiative will be aimed at strengthening cultural diversity and unity in the world.

"This is an extremely poetic project that explores the essence of human life and communication," Pope Francis said before his death.

It is specified that the painting is funded by international sponsors, and all proceeds will be used for the further development of the project. The film is being produced by Aldeas Scholas Films in collaboration with Sikelia Productions and Massive Owl Productions. Among the producers are Teresa Leverato, Ezequiel del Corral and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, as well as a number of other famous figures in the film industry.

Pope Francis died at the age of 89 on the morning of April 21 as a result of a cerebral stroke. He last appeared in public on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica during Easter celebrations on April 20. As previously reported, the pontiff has been struggling with bilateral pneumonia for a long time.

The conclave to select a new pope will meet on May 7. 135 cardinals under the age of 80 from around the world can take part in the conclave.
