Pakistani Intelligence Chief Malik appointed National Security Adviser


The Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, has been appointed Pakistan's national security adviser. This was reported on May 1 by The Indian Express.
"Pakistan has appointed the current head of the ISI, Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, as its new national security adviser amid growing tensions with India," the article said.
Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik became the first head of the intelligence service appointed to the post of national security adviser.
Earlier, on March 31, it was reported that Pakistani security forces eliminated 17 terrorists from the Fitna al-Khawarij organization in the north-west of the country. According to Attaullah Tarar, the country's Minister of Information and Broadcasting, the operation was carried out in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
