In France, bakeries were closed due to a ban on work on Labor Day. This was reported on May 1 by the BFMTV channel.

Dominique Anract, President of the National Confederation of Bakeries and Confectionery, noted that as a result, about 12 million people, including tourists, were left without fresh pastries.

"Obviously, I don't think this is normal. Moreover, we thought that we were necessary, like the press and other professions," said the Intermission.

According to the French Labor Code, May 1 is the only public holiday that is a mandatory non-working day without loss of wages for all employees. In case of non-compliance with the rules, the head of the company faces a fine of €750 per adult employee and € 1.5 thousand if the employee is a minor.

Izvestia has footage of closed French shops at its disposal.

On April 17, employees of the elite special forces of the French BRI police (rapid reaction brigades) began an indefinite strike demanding higher bonuses for recycling. About 400 police officers across the country have given up overtime work, reducing their shifts and night patrols. The employees stated that their work was in high demand, "but not sufficiently recognized by the state."
