The rada deputy pointed out the risks of Ukraine's agreement with the United States on natural resources

The agreement between Ukraine and the United States in the field of mining poses a threat to the Ukrainian economy and sovereignty. This was announced on May 1 by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak in his Telegram channel.

According to him, Ukraine may lose some of its budget revenues, since half of the profits from the new licenses will go to the fund, and not to the state treasury.

The MP also noted that the document limits the country's control over natural resources — the structures associated with the fund receive priority rights in investments and purchases.

Zheleznyak also pointed out the risks to financial independence: Ukraine undertakes to ensure the free conversion of hryvnia and transfers abroad, and in the event of an economic crisis, any restrictions must be coordinated with the United States. At the same time, Kiev is obliged to compensate for losses if they arise from the fund.

He stressed that the provisions of the agreement take precedence over Ukrainian legislation, which, in his opinion, undermines national sovereignty.

Delegation from Kiev goes to Washington

The day before, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that Washington and Kiev had signed an agreement on Ukraine's natural resources. In addition, the countries have concluded a deal on the creation of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, he added.

On April 17, Vice President of Ukraine, Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko announced that Kiev and Washington had signed a memorandum on an agreement on minerals. The next day, Deputy Zheleznyak published the text of the memorandum on his Telegram channel, noting that there was no mention of security guarantees in the document.
