The transport police has opened nine criminal cases into the theft by taxi drivers of funds from participants in a special military operation (SVO) at Sheremetyevo Airport. This was announced on May 1 by the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Central Federal District (CFD).

Law enforcement agencies have identified the organizers of this criminal scheme, among whom there are two employees of the patrol and guard service of the linear directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at Sheremetyevo airport. They helped taxi drivers find potential victims. Also, one of the law enforcement officers, an operative of the airport police, refused to initiate criminal proceedings against the victims.

According to the district transport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, nine criminal cases have been initiated against the defendants under Articles 158 ("Theft") and Article 159 of the Criminal Code ("Fraud").

"In order to establish the causes and conditions, as well as the role of a number of line management officials who allowed employees to commit crimes, the leadership of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Central Federal District has appointed an internal audit," the department's page on the VKontakte social network says.

On April 30, the court arrested six defendants, and later nine more, who stole money from their participants arriving at Sheremetyevo Airport. It clarifies that the attackers committed fraud through theft, extortion and fraudulent actions. Later it became known that Alexey Kabochkin was arrested, whom the investigation considers to be the organizer of the criminal group.
