The new electric train "Dioscuria" began its work on May 1, running between Russia and Abkhazia. It departs from the Imereti Resort station located in Sirius.

The new high-speed train will run for less than four hours. In total, four trains will run between Sukhum and Sochi, heading towards each other in the morning and evening, said Yaroslav Bogat, a correspondent for Izvestia.

Ivan Kolesnikov, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways, said that the train is designed for 344 passengers.

"The train is four-car, modern, with improved service capabilities. This includes climate control, ventilation and air conditioning," he said.

In addition, Kolesnikov noted that every place has the ability to charge mobile phones. Lifts for passengers with disabilities are also installed in the lead carriage.

It is specified that during the route "Dioscuria" will make stops at five railway stations in Abkhazia. Passengers will undergo customs and border control directly on the train at the Veseloe and Tsandripsh installation points.

On February 6, the Ministry of Transport announced plans to resume direct flights between Russia and Abkhazia in May this year after a break of more than 30 years. According to the agency, a number of Russian airlines have expressed their readiness to operate flights between the two countries.
