The US Army plans to increase the use of drones. This was reported on April 30 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

"The US Army is embarking on the largest restructuring since the end of the Cold War, planning to equip each of its combat divisions with about 1,000 drones and get rid of outdated weapons and other equipment," the publication says.

It is noted that drones have changed the approach to warfare, as they not only help to overcome enemy defensive lines, but also more effectively identify hidden enemy positions.

In addition, the newspaper reported that the United States plans to improve the equipment of troops with tablets, provide them with Internet access and invest about $ 3 billion in the development of technologies to combat enemy drones. The total cost of rearmament of the American armed forces is estimated at $36 billion.

On January 30, Daniel Driscoll, a candidate for the post of Secretary of the United States Army, said that Russia was successfully forming combat-ready armed forces and creating new strategic assets in defiance of the sanctions regime. At the same time, in his opinion, the technological advantage of the United States is shrinking and the army needs to accelerate modernization and better prepare its forces for achievements in the field of unmanned and autonomous combat operations.
