On May 1, Elon Musk, an entrepreneur and head of the US government's Department of Efficiency (DOGE), called an article published by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper that Tesla was looking for a replacement for him as CEO deliberately false.

"It is an extremely serious violation of ethical standards that the WSJ published a deliberately false article and did not include in it an unequivocal denial made by the Tesla board of directors," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

He later published another post in which he called the WSJ newspaper a "discredit of journalism."

The day before, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Tesla board of directors, due to the fall in shares and the irritation of some investors with Musk's position, began looking for a successor. According to the newspaper, the board members contacted several companies to find managers.
