The West and Ukraine are aware of who owns Crimea. This was announced on May 1 by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Simferopol, Artyom Berezovsky.

"In the West, as well as in Ukraine, they understand perfectly well that Crimea is a sovereign territory of the Russian Federation, not because Russia wants it that way, but because the Crimeans themselves wanted it," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Berezovsky noted that this region cannot be considered as a simple thing that can be transferred. He added that when determining territorial affiliation, it is important to take into account the opinion of local residents. In particular, 2.5 million people expressed their desire about who they want to connect their future and the future of their children with.

On April 29, Berezovsky said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky refuses to recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation because of his own mercantile interests. According to him, in this way he is trying to keep the Crimean and Ukrainian agenda in the field of view of the world media.

On February 29, CNN learned about the US intention to recognize Crimea and the new territories as part of Russia. American leader Donald Trump was disappointed that his attempts to conclude a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine after three years of conflict have so far failed. Since then, the White House has been making increasingly persistent efforts to conclude an agreement.
