Veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) can receive an additional pension in May in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. Alexander Safonov, a professor at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, told about this on May 1.
"According to the presidential decree, the jubilee payment of 80 thousand rubles will be given to disabled people and WWII veterans, former underage prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos and other places of forced detention. In addition, widows or widowers of deceased disabled people and participants of the Second World War, as well as military personnel who died during the Second World War, the war with Finland and Japan," the expert told the Prime agency.
In addition, the professor added, 55 thousand rubles will be awarded to those who worked for at least six months during the war, as well as those awarded orders or medals of the USSR for selfless work during the Second World War, and former adult prisoners of concentration camps, prisons and ghettos.
Safonov noted that the anniversary payments will be made automatically, without the need to submit applications. Russian regions will also be able to introduce their own additional rewards for veterans.
At the end of December 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared 2025 the Year of Defender of the Fatherland. The decision was made in honor of the participants of the special military operation and in memory of the exploits of all the ancestors. At the same time, he called for promoting the victory over Nazism in 1945 as a global value.
