Polyansky allowed negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in the near future

Direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine may take place soon, if Kiev makes efforts to do so. This was announced on May 1 by Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations (UN).
"If serious and meaningful efforts are made to resolve the problems, <...> i think it's (negotiation. — Ed.) may happen quite soon," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, the Ukrainian side needs to eliminate the root causes of the conflict.
Yesterday, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, announced Moscow's readiness for direct talks with Kiev without preconditions. He stressed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refuses US proposals for a settlement in order to conceal the crimes committed.
