- NYP learned about the US dissatisfaction with Witkoff's approach to negotiations with Russia

The United States has expressed dissatisfaction with the approach of US President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, to negotiations with Russia. This was reported on April 30 by The New York Post, citing sources.
"Steven Witkoff is causing frustration among sources in the White House with his approach to negotiations with America's two main adversaries," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, Witkoff actually performs the role of Trump's "personal ambassador" in negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has also assumed responsibility for shaping the Middle East agenda and participates in high-level meetings on his own.
In addition, during his trips to Moscow, the special envoy resorted to the services of Russian translators, which is considered a violation of established diplomatic norms.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on April 25 that Putin and Witkoff had met in Moscow. The parties began with a brief exchange of greetings in English, and then discussed the resumption of direct talks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
