Britain and France have begun negotiations on possible recognition of Palestine.

Britain and France are negotiating a possible recognition of Palestine as early as June this year. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper on Wednesday, April 30.
The negotiations were confirmed by British Foreign Minister David Lammy during his speech in the House of Lords. He noted that the issue of recognition of Palestine will be raised at the June conference, which the two states convened in connection with the search for solutions to the Middle East conflict.
"No one has the right to veto Britain's recognition of a Palestinian state. We have always said that recognition is not an end in itself, and we would prefer recognition as part of the process leading to the formation of two States. French President Emmanuel Macron has talked a lot about this, including recently, together with the Saudis, and, of course, we are currently negotiating with them," Lammy commented.
He also recalled that Palestine has already been recognized by 160 States, which have recently been joined by Spain, Norway and Ireland.
The British Foreign Secretary mentioned the high level of violence in the country and stressed that a process of demilitarization would be necessary in the future. According to Lammy, the leadership of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas must leave the territory of Palestine.
During his speech, Lammy condemned Israel's 60-day blockade of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
"The blockade of necessary aid to Gaza is terrible, the suffering is terrible, the need is enormous, the loss of lives is colossal," he said.
Earlier, on April 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Sultan of Oman Haytham bin Tarek Al Said expressed concern about the situation in the Gaza Strip during talks and called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the occupied Palestinian territories.
The IDF resumed military operations against Hamas in Gaza on March 18. On March 28, the press service of the Gaza Ministry of Health reported that since then, more than 890 people have been killed in Israeli attacks, and more than 1980 have been injured.
