- The American political scientist pointed out the details of the Ukraine-US deal on mineral resources.

As part of the agreement on the minerals deal signed between the United States and Ukraine, the parties will jointly develop deposits and divide them equally. This was stated on May 1 by political scientist, retired lieutenant Colonel of the US Army Earl Rasmussen in an interview with Izvestia.
"The development [of deposits] will be mainly divided 50-50, and decisions will be made jointly," the expert said.
However, he stressed that the document does not specify the details of who exactly will participate in this process.
"I assume that it will be a combination of Ukrainian and American companies. The only mention is that companies that have cooperated with Russia will not be able to participate in tenders," Rasmussen said.
He also pointed out that the conclusion of the agreement would lead to an increase in the influence of the United States in this sector of the Ukrainian economy.
"Another point is where are these minerals? A significant part of them is located in the territory that is now occupied by Russia. So this zone is, in fact, inaccessible," the political scientist drew attention.
On Wednesday, April 30, Washington and Kiev signed an agreement on Ukraine's natural resources. In addition, the countries have concluded a deal on the creation of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
On April 11, it was reported that the new draft of the resource deal between the United States and Ukraine does not contain provisions on guarantees of Kiev's security, despite the demands of the Kiev regime. In addition, the draft agreement also tightens the conditions put forward before.
