A giant Victory Banner was raised in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was announced on April 30 by the Russian Embassy in Venezuela in the Telegram channel.

"The ceremony was the culmination of a series of memorable events, including the opening of a thematic exhibition, the patriotic campaign "Victory Waltz", as well as the launch of the "Victory Cabin" on the main tourist cable car of the capital Guaraira Repano," the diplomatic mission said.

The ceremony was attended by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil, Minister of Tourism Leticia Gomez, Minister of Culture Ernesto Villegas, Defender of the People Alfredo Ruiz, as well as representatives of other ministries and departments of Venezuela.

"The raising of the largest Victory Banner outside of Russia here in Caracas symbolizes the deep bond between our peoples, the common will for truth, freedom and peace. Russia and Venezuela are together in memory, in struggle, in Victory," said Sergey Melik—Bagdasarov, the Russian Federation's Ambassador to Venezuela.

On April 12, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro would visit Moscow and take part in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
