- NYP reported on the White House's disappointment in Whitkoff's approach to Russia and Iran

The administration of US President Donald Trump is disappointed with the approach of his special envoy Steve Witkoff to negotiations with Russia and Iran. This was announced on Wednesday, April 30, according to the New York Post (NYP).
The newspaper's sources report that Witkoff has effectively become Trump's "personal ambassador" to Russia, while simultaneously taking over the management of the Middle East agenda and participating in high-level meetings alone. The official also resorted to the help of Russian interpreters during trips to the Russian Federation, which is a violation of the "long-standing diplomatic procedure."
The newspaper also notes that the presence of two negotiators in the process of resolving the conflict in Ukraine makes it more difficult to achieve a balance. We are talking about the special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
On April 29, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce announced that the United States would cease its participation in negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine in the absence of progress in its settlement.
On April 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that negotiations with the United States on the conflict in Ukraine were moving in the right direction. He recalled that the American Secretary of State, among other things, expressed the opinion that during the negotiations Washington better understood Moscow's position, as well as the underlying causes of the conflict.
