In renaming Volgograd to Stalingrad, the final decision should be made by the local residents of the city. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 30.

"It's up to the residents to decide. Let's think about it. We need to ask the residents," during a speech at the federal educational marathon "Knowledge. The First Ones" at the Victory Museum in Moscow.
