Insufficient oxygen supply to the inner layer of the uterus is one of the main reasons for early termination of pregnancy. With endometrial hypoxia, 50% of pregnancy does not occur at all, and at 20-30% it is interrupted at five to six weeks. Vladimir Zuev, MD, Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 at Sechenov University, told Izvestia about this on May 5.
According to Zuev, to solve the problem of endometrial hypoxia, the center has developed an innovative technique of fluorescence spectroscopy, which resembles natural photosynthesis in principle.
"We give the patient chlorophyll—containing drugs, and in the absence of sun, we start the process using phototherapy: we insert a monofilament fiber through the cervical canal into the uterine cavity and shine a laser beam with a certain wavelength from the inside," explained the professor.
He clarified that as a result, the tissues are not only saturated with oxygen, but also begin to synthesize necessary substances, including proteins. But the most important thing, the expert emphasized, is the constant monitoring of dynamics, adjustment of dosage and number of sessions. According to him, someone needs five, and someone needs ten.
"This approach is unique, and treatment in other centers is more standardized. In addition, our technology gives a longer lasting effect — up to six months," the doctor noted.
The professor shared that after the treatment, a patient with 17 unsuccessful IVF attempts in different countries was able to become a mother. Another amazing case from the doctor's practice is that a 28—year-old woman with an almost atrophied uterus had a natural pregnancy after therapy.
Experts pay special attention to the quality of the drugs used. According to the center's research, the Russian drug used is 160 times more effective than its American counterpart and 60 times more effective than the British one. The unique techniques attract patients not only from all regions of Russia, including Kamchatka, but also from abroad: Germany, Spain and other countries.
Earlier, on March 8, gynecologist of the medical center of Dr. Alexandrovsky Vladimir Komagorov told Izvestia about the method for the diagnosis and treatment of intrauterine pathologies. According to him, hysteroscopy is one of the most informative and effective procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of intrauterine pathologies.
