A court has sentenced Anton Tabalyuk, a militant of the 41st separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Formations of Ukraine (VFU), to 16 years in prison for using weapons against civilians in the Kursk region. This was reported on April 30 in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

"The court sentenced him to 16 years in prison with the first three years in prison, and the rest in a high—security penal colony," the Telegram channel says.

It was established that on September 15, 2024, together with his colleagues, the defendant illegally invaded the territory of the Russian Federation in order to commit a terrorist act. Subsequently, he intimidated local residents of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region using a machine gun. In addition, Tabalyuk participated in the illegal blocking of the Court with the use of equipment from observation and firing positions, which are designed to subsequently strike civilian targets.

The Ukrainian militant was detained by Russian soldiers during the fighting. The court found the evidence collected sufficient to convict him. Tabalyuk was found guilty of committing a terrorist act (paragraphs "a" and "b" of part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

On April 25, the Second Western District Military Court sentenced three Ukrainian militants Vasily Moisey, Stepan Kobelyuk and Alexander Dmitriev to 15.5 and 16 years in prison for crimes in the Kursk region. It was specified that the defendants would serve the first three years in prison, and the rest of the sentence would be spent in a high-security penal colony.
