Shoigu called on the BRICS countries to defend the historical truth

The BRICS countries must stand up against the glorification of Nazi criminals, as well as defend the historical truth. This was announced on April 30 by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, during a video presentation at the first session of the meeting of high representatives of the BRICS countries on security issues, held in Brazil.
"We hope that the BRICS countries will give an unambiguous and, if possible, public assessment of the crimes of the Kiev regime <... > We believe that the BRICS countries should resolutely oppose such actions and jointly defend the historical truth," TASS quoted him as saying.
Shoigu said that Europe has forgotten to whom they owe the liberation from fascism, which is why there is a massive rewriting of history and glorification of criminals who deny the exploits of soldiers of the anti-Hitler coalition and the contribution of the Soviet Union to the victory over the crimes of the Nazi regime.
On April 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that all measures must be taken to combat the resurgence of Nazism and the spread of intolerance. According to him, the so-called idea of exclusivity hides claims to world domination and attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
On the eve of the meeting, the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries expressed hope for achieving a sustainable peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. In addition, the foreign ministers called for the restoration of arms control, as well as strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation regime.
