Dongfeng unveils large SUV M-Hero 817 with smart autopilot

Dongfeng has unveiled the new M-Hero 817 electric SUV, which is the second in the sub-brand's lineup and the first to build on the Tianyuan architecture developed jointly with Huawei. This is stated in the message of the Russian representative office of the brand, which was received by Izvestia on April 30.

The novelty is equipped with Huawei ADS 4 autonomous driving system, which is able to analyze the road situation in real time, warning the driver in advance about the dangers, as well as perform a variety of maneuvers. The system can be improved through the use of artificial intelligence technologies.

According to the company, the car's design is inspired by the image of a lion, and the exterior elements should resemble ancient weapons. The length of the M-Hero 817 is 5 m, the wheelbase is 3.1 m. The SUV has 35-inch wheels and a high-strength CATL battery that is resistant to extreme temperatures. Other technical details are not specified. Sales of the model in China will start in the third quarter of 2025.

The M-Hero I hybrid SUV is now officially presented on the Russian market, with a price starting from 14.49 million rubles. It has a power plant with a capacity of 816 hp (1050 Nm) and an all-wheel drive system, acceleration to "hundreds" takes 6 seconds.

Earlier that day, it was reported that the opening of the first official dealership of the Chinese brand Li Auto (Lixiang) in Russia will take place before the end of May. Sinomach Auto has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Lixiang (Li Auto). Three models will enter the market — the L6, L7 and L9 crossovers.
