Douglas Emhoff, the husband of former US Vice President Kamala Harris, announced on April 30 that US President Donald Trump had excluded him from the Board of the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.

"Today (April 30th. I have been informed of my dismissal from the Council for the Holocaust Memorial," he wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

He called the relevant decision of the head of state political and clarified that it would not shake his commitment to preserving the memory of the Holocaust, education or the fight against hatred and anti-Semitism.

Emhoff expressed his willingness to continue speaking out, educating and fighting hate in all its forms.

On April 28, CNN reported the dismissal of at least 121 thousand people from their jobs as part of Trump's policy to reduce the number of government employees. It was clarified that this number does not include persons who were forcibly sent on long-term leave or who agreed to voluntarily leave their position on condition of monetary compensation.
