A suspect in a double murder and attempted murder in 2000 was detained in the village of Ukromnoye in Crimea. He was taken to Moscow for interrogation, a source told Izvestia.

"During the investigation, it was established that a 45-year-old man may be involved in the crime. It later turned out that he had changed his first and last name. He was detained on April 26," the source said.

The suspect has already been convicted of serious crimes, including injury to health and robbery. Initially, a criminal case was opened against him under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder"), but later Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime") was added. According to investigators, in 2000, he killed two women: their bodies were found with multiple stab wounds. In addition, the detainee stabbed a man in the same year, damaging vital organs, among other things.

Earlier, on April 29, two men, Viktor Berillo and Alexander Ponyatovsky, who are suspected of committing a murder 30 years ago in Vladivostok, were detained in Primorsky Krai. It was clarified that the identities of the accomplices were established thanks to the testimony of a witness to the crime. Law enforcement officers detained one of them in the Khabarovsk Territory, and the other in Krasnodar.
