AvtoVAZ revealed data leak of 32 thousand Lada car owners

AVTOVAZ's security service has revealed a leak of personal data of owners of 32,000 Lada cars, which were collected from unknown alternative sources. These car owners may face the risk of fraudulent actions through messengers and mailing lists, AvtoVAZ said in a statement received by Izvestia on April 30.
The company said that in April of this year, a file was discovered on one of the closed Internet resources where stolen databases are exchanged, allegedly representing an "official drain" consisting of more than 32 thousand Lada owners with personal data (mobile phone, VIN, model, as well as an analysis of the presence of these phone numbers in messengers).
AvtoVAZ stated that the company's data accounting and storage systems are maintained in other formats and are fully protected from illegal access. The company's security service recommended that owners of Lada cars of all years of production "be critical of sudden messages from unknown addressees who may soon disguise themselves as "representatives" of AvtoVAZ, the Lada dealer network and other allegedly interconnected organizations with the company."
The company stressed that it is not possible to predict the scheme of possible fraud and recommends that when receiving messages with non-obvious requests related to Lada cars, contact the brand's hotline or authorized dealers.
Earlier that day, it was reported that AvtoVAZ would suspend car production for the planned annual corporate vacation period (May 5-7), as well as during weekends and public holidays (May 1-4 and 8-11). In total, from May 1 to May 11, AvtoVAZ plans to perform more than 9 thousand different works worth more than 200 million rubles. The launch of all production lines after scheduled work is scheduled for May 12.
