A court in Moscow has brought the Viber messenger to administrative responsibility. He was fined 800 thousand rubles for violating the law. This was reported on April 30 in the Telegram channel of the courts of general jurisdiction.

"The messenger <...> has been brought to administrative responsibility for non—fulfillment of duties by the organizer of the instant messaging service," the publication says.

As a result, the justice of the peace of judicial district No. 422 of the Tagansky district found Viber guilty in accordance with Part 1 of Article 13.39 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Failure to perform duties as an organizer of an instant messaging service").

On December 13, 2024, it was reported that Roskomnadzor had restricted access to the Viber messenger in Russia. This measure was taken due to non-compliance by the company's representatives with the requirements of Russian legislation.
