Regular mental activity not only develops cognitive abilities, but also promotes longevity, reducing the risk of age-related brain diseases. Ivan Rozanov, a leading specialist at the Laboratory of Psychohygeny and Psychoprophylaxis at the V.P. Serbsky National Research Medical Center for Psychiatry and Narcology of the Russian Ministry of Health, told Izvestia about this on May 1.

According to the expert, performing work tasks that require concentration and analysis trains memory, attention and imagination. These skills help the brain process information more efficiently and adapt to changes. In addition, active intellectual activity serves to prevent neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Rozanov noted that people engaged in intellectual work often have a longer life expectancy. This is due not only to the constant training of the brain, but also to their ability to withstand stress. A high level of education and intelligence allows us to find optimal solutions in difficult situations, and the support of the social environment enhances this stability.

Motivation also plays an important role. When a person sets goals for themselves and uses professional experience to achieve them, mechanisms are activated in the brain that help maintain mental balance. Good working conditions additionally stimulate productivity, positively affecting both mental and physical health.

"Good working conditions increase motivation and improve mental health, which in turn helps to be physically healthy. Work provides an opportunity to develop and achieve goals, which is also good for the brain," the expert noted.

Earlier, on April 4, Maria Bogdanova, a practicing psychologist, PhD, lecturer at the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, told Izvestia how to deal with Russians who are faced with manipulation at work. According to her, normally a person with a healthy mind is capable of open communication and does not need manipulation. But there are people who enjoy intrigue, underhand games, and indirect communication.
