KHL has set the start date for next season

The 2025/2026 season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) starts on September 5. This was announced on April 30 in a release on the league's website.

"The 2025/2026 season will begin on September 5, 2025 with the Opening Cup match, in which the finalists of the current season's playoffs will play," the message said.

In addition, the 2025 Gagarin Cup winner will be the host club of the first match of the season. The full structure and dates of the KHL 2025/2026 season will be announced in June.

Earlier, on April 29, the Lokomotiv hockey club from Yaroslavl defeated Ufa's Salavat Yulaev in the second match of the semi-final playoff series of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The match was held in Yaroslavl and ended with a score of 2:1.
