Over the past day, 301 accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 21 people were killed and 354 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on April 30 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. 13 of the dead were passengers and drivers.

As a result of 77 accidents, 35 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 42 outside their area of operation, eight pedestrians were killed, and 72 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 20 child pedestrians, 13 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside pedestrian crossings.

44 accidents involving minors were recorded on the country's roads, as a result of which 49 young road users were injured, including 13 child passengers, eight cyclists and five motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.

There were 24 accidents involving buses, in which one person was killed, and 34 more road users, including two children, needed medical attention. 14 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

In the Voronezh Region, on a regional highway, a passenger car driver drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a bus carrying four passengers. As a result of the accident, a motorist was killed, the driver and two passengers of the bus were hospitalized with injuries, two more passengers of the bus were sent for outpatient treatment after medical care.

In one of the villages of the Belgorod region, a school bus driver with two passengers aged 13 and 14 did not provide an advantage at the beginning of the movement and collided with a passenger car moving in the opposite direction. A 13-year-old schoolgirl, one of the young passengers of the bus, was injured in an accident. After receiving medical treatment, the girl was referred for outpatient treatment.

In the city of Engels, Saratov region, a passenger car driver ran over an 11-year-old schoolboy who was running across the roadway from left to right in the absence of an organized pedestrian crossing in the visible area. As a result of the accident, a minor pedestrian was injured and ended up in the hospital.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds bus drivers that the life and health of their passengers during transportation depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of a person behind the wheel.

"You transport people and are responsible for them before the law while they are in the vehicle you are driving. Therefore, always go out well rested and healthy for the work shift, and before leaving for the route, be sure to check the technical condition of the vehicles entrusted to you. When driving in urban conditions, take advantage of the lanes allocated for public transport. When operating intercity and inter-regional passenger flights, observe the speed limit and traffic rules allowed for you. Always take into account the requirements of markings, road signs, and traffic lights. You should be extremely careful when passing railway crossings. Never rush through them as quickly as possible, thereby creating an emergency situation. Take care of your passengers, preventing even the prerequisites for a traffic accident," Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, reminded bus drivers of their duties.

On the eve of the holiday weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more careful on the roads of settlements and cities. People driving should take special care when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians crossing the roadway. Drivers should keep in mind that the behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so you should not rush to start driving even at a traffic light: you need to make sure that the crossing is completely free of pedestrians.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds parents of the need to monitor their children's leisure time and behavior during long holidays: they should not be allowed outside alone, unattended, especially in the evening. To improve the visibility of young pedestrians, drivers of vehicles must necessarily use retroreflective elements on children's outerwear at night. The lack of parental control on the street for children of preschool and primary school age often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, the department emphasizes. The State Traffic Inspectorate reported that in April (from the 1st to the 29th), 1,384 accidents involving children occurred, in which 25 road users under the age of 16 died, and another 1,510 were injured.

Earlier today it became known that a female driver was killed in the Novosibirsk region as a result of a car collision with a bridge support.
