- The political scientist named a condition for continued U.S. assistance to the European Union.

The United States can continue to provide security services to the European Union (EU) within the framework of NATO, but this will already cost the Europeans larger amounts of money. Political scientist Alexander Asafov shared this opinion with Izvestia on April 30.
"The Americans are threatening the collapse of the NATO bloc, but it seems to me that this is just a projection for the Europeans (US aid. — Ed.) will become more expensive. That is, the Americans will provide security services through the NATO bloc, but they will simply charge more money for it. And this is the preparation of the Europeans for this fact," he said.
According to the expert, the EU's attempts not only to ensure its own security, but also to organize support for the Kiev regime look weak. Asafov recalled that even the plans of the association to send peacekeepers to Ukraine had failed due to a lack of military personnel.
The political scientist added that the United States has abandoned the pro-Ukrainian course.
"But I think the position will change if he succeeds in pushing the Kiev regime to sign and comply with the deal, which was previously called a resource deal," Asafov stressed.
Mike Waltz, National Security Adviser to the President of the United States, said in an interview with The New York Post (NYP) on April 29 that the United States, with a debt of $33 trillion, can no longer afford to subsidize European security.
At the same time, on the same day, the Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced the approval by the US State Department of the sale of a $1.33 billion package of weapons to Poland, including 400 AIM–120D air-to-air missiles.
On April 23, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth called on Europe to step up its own efforts to ensure security in the region. According to him, the time when the United States was the only guarantor of the EU's security has passed.
