The business program of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress has been published

The business program of the event has been published on the official website of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress. The Congress will be held on May 22-23 at the Tavrichesky Palace in St. Petersburg under the motto "Planet Earth: harmony of man and nature."

The main objective of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress is to promote the formation of effective mechanisms for sustainable development aimed at preserving the environment in a changing climate. In 2025, the Congress will once again become a central platform for interstate and intersectoral dialogue on key issues on the environmental agenda. The participation in the event was confirmed by representatives of dozens of countries, international organizations, authorities, business, scientific and expert communities.

On May 22, the XI Nevsky International Environmental Congress will open with a youth program that will become an important part of the business agenda. Participants will have open dialogues and thematic sessions on youth participation in solving climate problems, the formation of an ecological culture, the development of environmental volunteerism, the involvement of children in the "green" agenda, as well as the role of youth climate initiatives in a sustainable future.

"Many of the projects currently being implemented in the field of ecology have "grown" precisely from the recommendations of the Nevsky Congress. Russia has a lot to share with its foreign colleagues regarding environmental legislation, projects to eliminate accumulated harm, and a number of others. Therefore, interest in our site is constantly growing. This year we are waiting for experts, scientists, government and public figures from all over the world – all those who are ready to professionally discuss the most important issues of the international environmental agenda on an equal basis – without politicization, dictate and pressure. Caring for the environment is something that should unite countries and peoples," said Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Federation Council.

On the first day of the Congress, a meeting of the Commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation on Environmental well-being will be held. Representatives of government authorities, the scientific community and business will take part in the event. The topic of discussion will be strategic guidelines for environmental policy in modern conditions.

The round tables and sessions of the business program on May 22 will address issues of food security and climate risks, sustainable ecotourism, the use of artificial intelligence and digital solutions in the field of ecology, international cooperation between the BRICS countries, the state of the Caspian region, the development of a closed-loop economy, the role of women in promoting environmental initiatives, green investments, subsoil use and low-carbon technologies.

On May 23, the Congress will continue with a rich program of business and international events covering key areas of the environmental agenda. The morning will begin with the international business breakfast "Ecology of Big Cities", where heads of regions, mayors and experts from Russia and abroad will discuss modern practices of sustainable development of megacities, greening of transport, preservation of green zones and new approaches to protecting the health of citizens.

The UNESCO session will consider the management of World Natural Heritage sites and the development of transboundary conservation areas. The prospects for water and energy cooperation between Russia and Central Asian countries will also be discussed. Participants will touch upon issues of water resource allocation, infrastructure modernization and adaptation to climate change.

The central event of the Congress will be the plenary session "Ecology of the New Reality: Challenges and Opportunities", which will be held in the Duma Hall of the Tauride Palace. It will become the most important platform for strategic discussion of global and national environmental challenges, as well as opportunities for the development of a green economy and international cooperation.

On May 21, on the eve of the official opening of the Congress, environmental and sports events will be held in St. Petersburg. The program includes a sap-board swim, street Eco. A festival for young people, the Green Van workshop and other events that will be a symbolic start to the environmental agenda of the Congress.

A large-scale eco-educational and cultural program will be held in the city on the Neva River during the event. Among the events: exhibitions "Clean Energy", "Pristine Russia", career guidance tours for young people "More than work", clean-up days, the "Clean Coast" campaign will be held, and thematic events for residents and guests of the city will be held in urban eco-centers.
