Yaroslavl resident sentenced to 20 years in a penal colony for treason


A Yaroslavl resident was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a high-security penal colony in a case of treason and sabotage after setting fire to a railway on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. This was announced on April 30 by the regional prosecutor's office.
"The Yaroslavl Regional Court has considered a criminal case against Evgeny Ermilov, a 23-year-old local resident. He was found guilty under Articles 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason"), as well as paragraphs "a", "b", part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code ("Sabotage committed by an organized group aimed at destroying and damaging transport infrastructure")," follows from the publication published on the website. departments.
The court found that in May 2024, a man posted a job search ad on one of the websites. Representatives of the Ukrainian special services responded to him and offered to complete the tasks for a certain amount. At first, the accused held a single picket at the military enlistment office. For this, he received 1,000 rubles as a reward.
The next task was to set fire to a relay cabinet located at one of the railway stations in the city of Yaroslavl. However, the young man did not receive the promised remuneration in the amount of 30-50 thousand rubles.
As a result, the court sentenced Ermilov to 20 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony with 1 year of restriction of liberty. In addition, about 500 thousand rubles were recovered from the young man for the damage caused. According to the press service of the department, the defendant had previously been convicted of theft and drug use.
Earlier, on April 3, a court in Volgograd sentenced Stanislav Ilchuk, a 23-year-old local resident, to 14 years in a penal colony for high treason and sabotage of a Russian Railways facility. It was clarified that the man opened the metal cabinet of the rail lubricator and set it on fire. He acted on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services.
