SPD members approve coalition agreement with CDU/CSU

The Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) has approved a coalition agreement with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) bloc, paving the way for the creation of a new German government. This was reported on April 30 by the RND portal.
According to the RND, the required quorum, that is, the minimum participation of 20% of the 358,000 SPD members, has been met. However, the turnout was lower than expected — 56%. The approval rate of the agreement was 84.6%.
It is reported that during a written vote that lasted several days, the SPD members voted by a clear majority for the agreement under the motto "Responsibility for Germany."
Earlier, on April 8, the SPD and the conservative CDU/CSU bloc signed an agreement on the formation of the ruling coalition in the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) after early elections to the Bundestag. It is specified that the negotiators were able to reach an agreement in principle on the points of the future coalition agreement that caused disagreement.
Later, on April 27, the media reported that Johann Vadefuhl, a member of the Christian Democratic Union, deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group on defense and an ardent supporter of Ukraine, could become the new German foreign minister.
