- Waltz pointed to the inability of the United States to finance Europe due to the large national debt.

The United States can no longer provide financial support to Europe's security due to the large national debt. This was announced on April 29 by Mike Waltz, adviser to the American president on national security.
"The United States, with a debt of $33 trillion, literally can no longer afford to subsidize European security," he said in an interview with The New York Post (NYP).
He stressed that Finland and Norway have increased defense spending, but NATO member countries such as Spain, Italy and Canada are investing "extremely insufficiently." According to Waltz, the White House administration will continue to support European countries in defense and diplomacy, but will become "demanding at all levels."
"We still have a long way to go, and we will continue to demand that our allies pay their fair share and share this burden [with Washington]," concluded the assistant to the US president.
The Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on April 29 that the US State Department had approved the sale of a $1.33 billion arms package to Poland, including 400 AIM–120D air-to-air missiles. It was specified that the sale would support the goals of US foreign policy and national security by increasing the security of the NATO ally, which is a force for political and economic stability in Europe.
