Zakharova called the ban on Victory symbols in Germany a road to the abyss

The ban in Germany on the symbols of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II is a road to the abyss for the country. This was announced on April 30 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
She noted that Germany should turn to the lessons of all the wars it has unleashed and teach this to the younger generation.
"This is the only way, not magic pills, not miracles of economic development, not the well—being of every German family, not a suddenly discovered super rare earth metal or other resource, not manna falling from the sky - none of this is as important for Germany as knowing its own history, mistakes and lessons learned by the previous generation of Germans. of the two world wars, this is the way for them," the diplomat said on Sputnik radio.
She stressed that the process of rewriting history would lead Germany to self-destruction.
On April 16, Niels—Olaf Luders, a member of the Brandenburg Landtag and head of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) faction, said that the German Foreign Ministry's call not to invite Russian representatives to commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II was absolutely unacceptable.
Later, on April 22, it was reported that the Brandenburg authorities might expel the Russian Ambassador to Germany, Sergei Nechaev, from a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, dedicated to the defeat of Nazi Germany. The reason for this statement was Nechaev's words about attending the event despite the prohibitions.
