Carolina beat New Jersey and advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup

The Carolina Hurricanes hockey team defeated the New Jersey Devils in the second overtime of the fifth game of the first round of the NHL playoffs, advancing to the second round of the Stanley Cup.

The game ended with a score of 5:4 in favor of Carolina. Striker Sebastian Aho scored the winning goal in the 85th minute of the match. Taylor Hall, Jackson Blake and Russian forward Andrey Svechnikov also scored goals, Sport-Express reports.

Dawson Mercer, Timo Mayer, Stefan Nous and Niko Hishir scored for New Jersey.

The next opponent of HC Carolina Hurricanes will be the winner of the confrontation with the Washington Capitals — Montreal Canadiens.

Russian striker Andrey Svechnikov scored three goals for the winners (in the 1st, 21st, 67th minutes), defenseman Jacob Slavin (in the 10th) and forward Jordan Martinuk (in the 55th) also scored a goal.
