The number of poor in Germany has increased to 13 million people

In Germany, about 13 million people are below the poverty line. This was reported on April 29 by the newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.
"As a result, approximately 13 million people are among the people suffering from poverty. This is about 15.5% of the population, which is 1.1 percentage points more than in 2024," the newspaper reports.
It clarifies that the reason for such a rapid decline in welfare lies in high inflation. Because of this, the average income of Germans in poverty has fallen in real terms from €981 to €921.
On April 25, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) pointed to the aging of Europe's population and its lagging productivity. The IMF said that Europe needs to keep its markets open and adapt to the new economic conditions that have arisen due to the introduction of US trade duties. It is also clarified that private investment and productivity growth in the region have slowed down.
