US President's special envoy Steven Witkoff tried to convince Russian leader Vladimir Putin to agree to a cease-fire in the conflict zone and make concessions on territories. This was reported on Tuesday, April 29, by the Bloomberg news agency, citing sources.

As indicated in the publication, the American diplomat asked the head of state to abandon the territories of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, as well as the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics (LPR and DPR).

"The representative of [US President Donald] Steve Witkoff tried to convince Putin that Russia should agree to a cease—fire," the publication says.

They added that the Russian leader refused the offer and demanded recognition of four regions controlled by Russia.

The agency called the negotiations inconclusive. Now, according to the publication, contact between Putin and Trump is necessary for progress.

On the same day, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce announced that the United States would cease its participation in negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine in the absence of progress in its settlement. According to her, the current stage of negotiations indicates the need for both sides to provide their proposals for a settlement.
